About
Twombley's Red Sentinel is a compact, columnar Japanese maple with deeply lobed, dark red foliage similar to Bloodgood. Unlike that cultivar, this selection exhibits vigorous growth while maintaining an unusually narrow, upright form, reaching approximately 10 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide at maturity. Its columnar habit makes it well-suited for spaces where horizontal spread is limited. The plant performs best in full sun to part shade, with afternoon shade beneficial in hot climates.
