About
Acer japonicum 'Aka Omote' is a vigorous cultivar with distinctive orbicular leaves that emerge deep red in spring, gradually transitioning to dark emerald through early summer. Foliage often develops various red tones on sun-exposed portions of the canopy. Young stems display a characteristic glossy sheen from a natural oil coating. Fall color shifts to bright orange-red tones. This strong-growing selection typically reaches approximately 10 feet in five years and performs well in sun to part shade conditions.
