About
'Heavy Seed' is an upright-growing Japanese maple with palmate green leaves that transition to bright orange-yellow in autumn. The cultivar is distinguished by its prolific production of bright red samaras (winged seeds), which mature in summer and persist on the tree, adding ornamental interest. It reaches approximately 8 feet in height at maturity and performs well in full sun to part shade conditions.
