About
Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum' produces large, nearly circular chartreuse leaves with bright red petioles that develop their golden hue most fully in sunny locations; afternoon shade is beneficial in hot climates to prevent leaf scorch. Growth is slow and spreading, reaching approximately 8 feet in height after 10 years. Fall foliage transitions to brilliant orange and red tones before leaf drop.
