About
'Desert King' is a fig cultivar that produces large, egg-sized fruits with yellowish-green skin and sweet, reddish interior flesh, typically ripening in mid-summer with a potential second crop in September in warm climates. Despite its name, this variety thrives in cooler regions, including coastal and higher-elevation sites, and performs well in full sun and well-drained soil while tolerating less-than-ideal conditions. Its large leaves create a lush, tropical appearance. Over ten years, 'Desert King' reaches approximately 10-15 feet tall and 8-12 feet wide, depending on growing conditions and pruning practices.
