Aesculus x neglecta 'Erythroblastos' Shrimp Pink Horse Chestnut

Aesculus × neglecta 'Erythroblastos' is a hybrid horse chestnut prized for its shrimp-pink new foliage in early spring, which transitions through bronze-brown tones to mature green as the season progresses. In mid-to-late summer, it produces upright yellow flower spikes that extend its ornamental interest. A moderate grower reaching approximately 10 feet in 10 years, it thrives in full sun to part shade and makes an excellent companion to Japanese maples where a larger specimen is desired. According to the growers at Mr Maple, the cultivar's color display functions almost as a secondary flowering season, providing multiple layers of seasonal interest in a relatively compact form.
