Aesculus hippocastanum ‘Lacinata’ Laceleaf European Horse Chestnut

'Lacinata' is a rare laceleaf selection of European horse chestnut distinguished by deeply divided, saw-like foliage that creates a fine, almost alien-like texture reminiscent of a Japanese maple. The tree produces the typical white flower spikes of its species in spring. Growth is slow, reaching 8-10 feet in 15 years; in hot climates, afternoon shade should be provided to prevent leaf scorch and promote healthy development. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar offers the ornamental appeal of dissected foliage combined with seasonal floral interest, making it a distinctive choice for gardeners seeking uncommon small trees.
