About
'Yayoi gasa' is a vigorous sieboldianum maple distinguished by notably large, deeply lobed palmate leaves that develop exceptional fall color, transitioning from yellow to bright orange. The cultivar was collected during a 1978 U.S. National Arboretum expedition to coastal Japan and remains uncommon in cultivation. It typically reaches approximately 15 feet in height over 20 years, making it a moderate-sized specimen suitable for gardens seeking dramatic seasonal display.
