Acer sieboldianum 'Kumoi nishiki' Variegated Full Moon Japanese Maple

Acer sieboldianum 'Kumoi nishiki' is a variegated full moon maple with light to dark green foliage prominently speckled white, especially in spring, that retains its cream-and-green coloration reliably through summer and into fall. The leaves transition to a distinctive swirled effect of red and yellow in autumn rather than a uniform color shift. It reaches approximately 8 feet tall and wide in 10 years with a balanced, spreading form. Unlike most Japanese maples, this cultivar is rated to zone 4 (surviving to, 30°F in-ground), making it exceptionally cold-hardy for northern gardens. According to Gardening With Maples, it performs well with high shade and 2-3 hours of afternoon sun, showing no leaf burn or disease issues in that siting, though morning sun and afternoon shade is generally recommended, especially during establishment.
