Acer shirasawanum 'Yellow Canary' Golden Full Moon Japanese Maple

'Yellow Canary' is a vigorous full moon maple (Acer shirasawanum) with notably large, circular leaves that maintain a glowing bright yellow throughout the growing season, lacking the red marginal coloration typical of similar cultivars. The tree reaches 8-10 feet tall within ten years and produces a luminous effect enhanced by yellowish stems, particularly striking in early morning or late afternoon light. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar was identified by Talon Buck Holtz, who named it for the canary-like appearance of unfurling foliage. The tree performs best with morning sun and afternoon shade, especially in hot climates, and is notably cold-hardy to zone 5 and late to leaf out, offering frost resistance in areas prone to spring freezes. Its bright yellow foliage provides excellent contrast in the garden against both green and red-toned companions.
