Acer shirasawanum 'Bronze Age' Bronze Full Moon Japanese Maple

'Bronze Age' is an upright shirasawanum with deeply lobed, almost matsumura-style leaves notably larger than typical palmatum cultivars, suggesting some palmatum influence. New growth emerges bronze-red with bright lime-green veining that gradually fills in as foliage matures to olive-green with persistent reddish-bronze tones. The tree reaches 8-10 feet in height over ten years and turns bright yellow in fall, occasionally with red accents. According to Gardening With Maples, this cultivar was introduced by Talon Buckle and leafs out earlier than most shirasawanums, offering frost protection in cooler regions; it performs well with morning sun transitioning to high afternoon shade, and responds favorably to secondary flushes with repeated bronze-red coloring throughout the growing season.
