Acer pseudosieboldianum ssp takesimense Ulleung-do Island Maple

Acer pseudosieboldianum ssp. takesimense, native to Ulleung-do Island off the Korean peninsula, produces large, rounded, bright green leaves that are notably fuller and wider than those of shirasawanum types, lending the tree distinctive visual appeal throughout the growing season. In autumn, the foliage transitions to a brilliant display of yellow, orange, and metallic red tones that typically persist longer and more uniformly than those of Acer palmatum. Grafted specimens are expected to reach 12-15 feet tall within 20 years. This rare subspecies is prized for its combination of handsome spring and summer foliage and exceptional, long-lasting fall color.
