FOR PICKUP ONLY | Acer pseudosieboldianum 'Hasselkus' Rare Japanese Maple | DOES NOT SHIP

Acer pseudosieboldianum 'Hasselkus' is a hybrid between A. pseudosieboldianum and A. palmatum that combines cold hardiness with ornamental appeal, growing upright 8-10 feet tall over approximately 10 years at a steady pace of about 1 foot annually. The leaves are deeply divided and somewhat larger than typical A. palmatum, with a refined texture that evokes A. japonicum. Summer foliage is vibrant green; fall color is notably bold and dynamic, ranging from golden yellow through orange to red. Developed by plantsman Ed Hasselkus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this cultivar dramatically extends Japanese maple cultivation into Zone 4 (cold to −30 °F) while remaining heat-tolerant through Zone 9, making it accessible to gardeners across a wide climate range. According to the growers at Mr Maple, the tree typically develops a multi-stemmed, naturally graceful canopy and responds well to standard maple care: ensure good drainage, avoid boggy conditions, and refrain from fertilizing after May to support proper dormancy in colder regions.
