Acer platanoides 'Walderseei' Variegated Norway Maple

Acer platanoides 'Walderseei' is a variegated Norway maple distinguished by large leaves densely marked with white reticulated speckles over a dusted green ground, with occasional soft pink tones appearing during cool springs. The tree develops an upright form, reaching 12-15 feet in 10 years with foliage that transitions from bright white in spring through green in summer to golden yellow in autumn, often retaining traces of variegation in fall color. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar is notably less invasive and slower-growing than the unvariegated species, making it a durable, low-maintenance landscape choice hardy in zones 4-8. It performs well in full sun but benefits from afternoon shade to hold variegation longer into summer; avoid boggy conditions and site it where its striking texture and contrast can be appreciated, particularly alongside deep evergreens or dark-foliaged Japanese maples.
