Acer platanoides 'Princeton Gold' Golden Norway Maple

Acer platanoides 'Princeton Gold' is a Norway maple distinguished by bright yellow foliage that displays a gradient from electric yellow in full sun to yellow-green in shade, particularly vivid in early spring. The tree develops an upright, rounded crown and reaches 15-18 feet tall with a 12-15 foot spread at maturity, growing over 18 inches annually. According to the growers at Mr Maple, it thrives in zones 4-8 and makes an excellent shade tree for smaller ornamentals while providing striking color contrast in the landscape; unlike the Norway maple species, this cultivar produces minimal viable seed. Its rapid growth and luminous foliage make it particularly effective when planted in full sun and paired with dark evergreens or red-leaved maples.
