About
Acer paxii is a rare evergreen maple native to Yunnan, China, and a close relative of the trident maple (Acer buergerianum). In warm climates it retains foliage year-round; in colder zones it becomes semi-deciduous with yellow and coral-pink fall color appearing later than most maples. New growth emerges coral-pink on leaves resembling those of A. buergerianum. The tree reaches 15-20 feet in ten years and prefers afternoon shade in hot climates.
