Acer palmatum x circinatum 'Ever Autumn' Japanese Maple

'Ever Autumn' is a hybrid Japanese maple resulting from a cross between Acer palmatum and Acer circinatum, discovered as a chance seedling by Dan Himes of Terra Nova Nursery. The foliage displays red-tinged, bronzed green coloration throughout the growing season, creating a persistent autumn-like appearance even in spring; the leaves transition to orange-red tones in fall, often contrasting dramatically within the canopy. The tree grows to approximately 12-15 feet in height and performs well in full sun in cooler climates, though afternoon shade is beneficial in hotter regions. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar is cold hardy to zones 5-9 and is noted for its waxy stems and rounded, full-moon-like leaf shape inherited from its Acer circinatum parentage, traits that make it visually distinct from typical palmatum cultivars.
