Acer palmatum 'Shiro' Yellow Variegated Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Shiro' is a variegated cultivar distinguished by seasonal foliage changes beginning with orange-tinged green leaves in spring. By summer, white and yellow speckling develops across the green foliage, creating a distinctive bleached appearance that intensifies in partial shade. Fall color transitions to yellow-orange tones. The tree grows upright to approximately 8-10 feet in height over ten years. The cultivar's name, meaning "white" in Japanese, references its characteristic variegated patterning; it may be closely related to or synonymous with 'Shiro fu nishiki', though further botanical evaluation is needed to confirm distinctions between the two.
