About
'Shigure bato' is a spreading matsumurae-type Japanese maple with deeply dissected foliage that emerges bronze-tipped on a light green base in spring, maintaining light green coloration through summer before shifting to yellow and orange tones in autumn. The cultivar grows wider than it is tall, typically reaching 6 feet in height and 6-8 feet in width at maturity, creating a broad, mounding form that distinguishes it from laceleaf types. The name translates to "rain of the late fall," referencing its seasonal display.
