About
Acer palmatum 'Ryu Sei' is a distinctly pendulous Japanese maple distinguished by fully palmate, star-shaped leaves rather than the dissected foliage typical of other weeping cultivars. The tree develops a strongly cascading habit and is commonly trained by staking to a desired height, after which lateral growth spreads to form a flowing mound. Fall foliage transitions to gold and orange tones. Ultimate dimensions vary with training method; width typically reaches approximately 10 feet when allowed to spread naturally.
