About
'Ruby Ridge' emerges in early spring with bright red foliage that deepens to dark chocolate brown by late spring, then transitions to cherry red in autumn with notably consistent color. The leaves are distinctively thick and leathery compared to most Japanese maples, and the plant produces unusually thick branching, characteristics that may indicate polyploidy. It develops into a large shrub or small tree, reaching 12-15 feet tall in approximately 20 years. This cultivar is occasionally listed under the synonym 'Crumple Leaf'.
