Acer palmatum 'Relish' Variegated Japanese Maple

'Relish' is a recently introduced variegated Japanese maple with distinctive seasonal color shifts. Foliage emerges in early spring with light green-on-green variegation, then develops into blue-green leaves with bright lime-green variegation by mid-to-late spring; red tones may accent the chartreuse margins in mid-summer before transitioning to yellow and orange in fall. The cultivar exhibits a vase-shaped habit and is estimated to reach 6-8 feet in height within ten years. Partial shade from afternoon sun promotes the most pronounced variegation.
