Acer palmatum 'Pink Filigree' Weeping Japanese Maple

'Pink Filigree' is a weeping laceleaf Japanese maple with strikingly colorful foliage throughout the growing season. Spring emergence brings bright pink-orange leaves with lime-yellow undertones, intensifying to deep red-pink in summer new growth, and finishing as orange-red in autumn; the finely dissected leaves and cascading weeping habit reach approximately 4-5 feet tall by 5-6 feet wide in ten years. According to the growers at Mr Maple, the cultivar originates from Gilardelli Nursery in Italy, where it is sometimes confused with other filigree-named selections but stands out for its exceptionally vivid pink coloration throughout the season. The tree performs best with early morning sun and afternoon shade in warmer zones, making it well-suited to both landscape planting and container cultivation where good drainage is maintained; it pairs effectively as a color contrast with cooler-toned or golden Japanese maples.
