Acer palmatum 'Nemo' Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Nemo' is a dwarf cultivar from the Mikawa Yatsubusa group, valued for its distinctive bright orange spring foliage that develops yellow undertones before maturing to green. The tree exhibits a compact, densely layered growth habit typical of the Yatsubusa type, reaching 3-4 feet in height and width, making it excellent for container gardening, foundation planting, and small landscapes. According to the growers at Mr Maple, 'Nemo' was a chance seedling discovered by Dr. Charles Murray and introduced to cultivation for its exceptional spring color and tight branching structure. The cultivar's slow growth rate and dwarf stature make it particularly suitable for bonsai, though it pairs well in collections of Yatsubusa color variants where its orange tones can be combined with other selections for striking seasonal contrast.
