FOR PICKUP ONLY | Acer palmatum 'Mikazuki' Japanese Maple | DOES NOT SHIP

Acer palmatum 'Mikazuki' is a medium-sized Japanese maple distinguished by its deeply lobed, elongated leaves that resemble a crescent moon. Spring foliage emerges in shades of pink to lavender-purple with prominent dark green veining and a creamy white interior, creating a distinctive reticulated variegation that develops a metallic sheen as leaves twist and curl. Through summer the coloring shifts to creamy white with green veining, then transitions to bold orange and yellow in autumn. The cultivar reaches approximately 10 feet tall by 7 feet wide at maturity and exhibits a naturally vase-shaped, upright growth habit; according to the growers at Mr Maple, 'Mikazuki' was the first reticulated tree introduced by Talon Buckolz that retained its own name rather than the "Ghost" series designation. To maintain the vivid spring pink coloring and extend the display, provide morning sun with protection from hot afternoon shade; in warmer climates and full-sun settings the foliage can shift toward deeper lavender tones. This cultivar is notably durable for a variegated maple and performs well through zones 5-8, though afternoon shade is recommended in zone 9 and warmer to prevent stress. Plant 'Mikazuki' prominently in the garden where its dramatic seasonal color transitions and elegant leaf architecture can be appreciated up close.
