Acer palmatum 'Lileeane's Jewel' Japanese Maple

'Lileeane's Jewel' is a variegated Japanese maple with deeply lobed leaves displaying pink and white variegation over a bright cherry-red base in spring. Foliage shifts to green-red with persistent variegation in mid-summer, then intensifies to crimson red infused with hot pink in fall. The tree reaches approximately 6-8 feet in 10 years with a dense, upright vase-like form, and demonstrates excellent heat tolerance, performing well in full sun without variegation burn. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar was discovered as a seedling by Jonathan Savage at Dell Locks' nursery and named after Savage's daughter, Lillian; it is one of the most stable pink-on-red variegated maples available. Solid-colored branches should be removed to maintain variegation. The tree benefits from afternoon shade in hot climates but can tolerate considerable sun exposure compared to other variegated maples, making it suitable for prominent placement near walkways or as a focal point.
