About
'Komon nishiki' is a rare variegated cultivar first recorded in Japan's 1882 Sekihin Binran list. Spring foliage emerges with pink and white variegation dusting chartreuse leaves, maturing to creamy white markings on darker green by late spring; fall color ranges from orange to red. The tree reaches 8-10 feet tall in 15 years with a typical upright-spreading habit. Morning sun with afternoon shade produces the most vibrant variegation.
