About
'Kaga kujaku' is a Japanese maple selection originating from wild yama-momiji (Acer palmatum ssp. matsumurae) in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Spring growth emerges as large, heavily lobed bright pink-red leaves, transitioning to deep green by early summer before producing new pink-red flushes in mid-summer that create striking contrast against the mature foliage. Autumn color ranges from bright orange to red. The cultivar typically reaches 10-12 feet tall over 15 years, making it a moderate-sized specimen suitable for landscape use.
