About
'Itame nishiki' displays deeply lobed leaves with irregular margins edged in red, pink, and orange that contrast against rich green centers; by mid to late spring, cream-to-orange variegation intensifies across the foliage, creating dynamic color shifts. The deeper red-brown bark complements the bright leaf margins throughout the growing season. This cultivar develops a vase-shaped habit, reaching approximately 7-8 feet tall in 10 years, and performs best with afternoon shade to maintain the clarity and longevity of its variegated coloring. Fall foliage transitions to bright yellow and orange tones.
