Acer palmatum 'Inaba shidare' Japanese Maple is in stock at 5 of the 6 specialty nurseries we track (Mr Maple, Japanese Maples and Conifers, Mendocino Maples Nursery, Essence of the Tree, The Tree Center), as of October 10, 2026.
About
'Inaba Shidare' is a vigorous weeping lace-leaf Japanese maple with deeply dissected, fine foliage that emerges purple-red in spring and transitions to fiery crimson in fall. It matures to 6-10 feet tall and typically wider, with a naturally spreading, mounding habit that cascades gracefully. According to Simply Japanese Maples, younger specimens can be staked to gain height before the branching cascades downward, offering flexibility in form, particularly useful when positioning the tree over a rock wall or other feature. The cultivar tolerates full sun well and adapts across varied growing conditions.
