About
'Hess Red Select' is an upright Japanese maple with bright red spring foliage that deepens to dark maroon through summer, retaining good color even in heat. This cultivar, developed by Hess Nurseries in early-to-mid 20th-century New Jersey, grows to approximately 8-10 feet tall within ten years, making it suitable for landscape use as a medium-sized accent tree.
