Acer palmatum 'Ghost Dancer' Japanese Maple

'Ghost Dancer' is a reticulated variegated Japanese maple with creamy white to pale green leaves distinctly veined in dark green, often flushed pink to purple at emergence in spring. The foliage displays best with afternoon shade in hotter zones, though it proves durable in full sun in cooler climates. Typically reaching 8-10 feet tall and 6-7 feet wide within 10 years, it exhibits a semi-pendulous habit characteristic of reticulated varieties. According to the growers at Mr Maple, though developed independently and considered "ghost series adjacent" rather than part of Talon Buchholz's original Ghost series, 'Ghost Dancer' has become widely propagated for its striking leaf texture and reliable form, displaying bright reds and occasional yellows in autumn. It is cold hardy to zone 5 and prefers well-draining soil.
