About
'Fujinami nishiki' is a variegated Japanese maple with dark foliage prominently marked by bright pink-red variegation across the palmate leaves. This cultivar arose as a chance seedling from 'Nomura' and was introduced in 1998. It grows to approximately 8-10 feet tall over 15 years and benefits from pruning after the spring growth flush to remove any reverted, non-variegated shoots.
