Acer palmatum 'Fred's Wild Dream' Japanese Maple

'Fred's Wild Dream' is a reticulated Japanese maple with cream-colored foliage overlaid by pink-rose blush and distinctive lime-green venation throughout each leaf, creating a delicate, intricately patterned appearance. The variegation shifts to vibrant peach-red tones in autumn. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar is a seedling introduction by Talon Buchholz, selected from his "Floor" collection and named after a friend named Fred who admired the tree. The plant typically reaches 8-10 feet tall within 10 years and develops an upright, well-filled form. For best color display, particularly the pink flush and peach separation, early morning sun is ideal; in hotter zones, afternoon shade helps extend the vibrant hues. It performs well in full sun in cooler regions and thrives with good drainage. The intricate reticulated leaf pattern rewards close viewing, making it well-suited to placement along garden walkways or in containers where the fine detail can be appreciated.
