Acer palmatum 'Fairy Hair' Rare Japanese Maple

'Fairy Hair' is distinguished by exceptionally fine, thread-like foliage that resembles delicate green hair, making it among the most finely textured Japanese maples available. A chance seedling of 'Scolopendrifolium' discovered by Talon Buchholz, this was his first cultivar introduction into horticulture. The cultivar develops brilliant fiery red, orange, and yellow fall color and typically reaches 4-6 feet in height within ten years, with a delicate, refined branching habit and open, airy canopy. The tree requires excellent drainage and careful watering to thrive, as it can be sensitive to overwatering in some climates; its slow growth rate and conifer-like appearance make it a distinctive specimen that stands apart from other Japanese maples in the landscape.
