About
Acer palmatum 'Elegans' is a cultivar prized for its exceptional autumn display, which transitions from bright orange to deep red in mottled patterns. New growth emerges chartreuse in spring, maturing to deep green, with a distinctive salmon-pink-red flush on the secondary summer growth. The foliage is finely dissected in the matsumurae form, with heavily serrated lobes on each leaf segment. This cultivar reaches approximately 10 feet tall by 10 feet wide in 20 years, making it suitable for smaller garden spaces.
