About
'Chokei ji' is an amoenum-type cultivar selected by Masayoshi Yano from a chance seedling of 'Shinobu ga oka' and introduced in 1989. The deeply lobed leaves emerge pink to orange with contrasting green veins in spring, transitioning to bright yellow and orange tones in autumn. The tree exhibits an upright form with semi-pendulous branching, typically reaching 12 feet in height after 10 years.
