About
'Bi hou' is a vigorous Japanese maple with chartreuse new leaves edged in red that mature to medium green in summer, then turn yellow or yellow-orange in fall. The cultivar's primary ornamental value lies in its winter display: the bark becomes a glowing orange-yellow, complemented by red buds that provide striking contrast. Young trees develop a vase-shaped habit and typically reach 12-15 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide at maturity.
