About
'Beni shi en' is a variegated Japanese maple with distinctive foliage that changes throughout the growing season. New spring growth emerges purple with lime-green variegation, each leaf displaying unique patterning; by mid-summer the foliage shifts to green-red with creamy variegation, then transitions to bright orange-red in autumn. This heat-tolerant cultivar develops a vase-like form, reaching 10-12 feet tall over approximately 15 years, and is particularly valued for specimen plantings where its variegated leaf pattern can be fully appreciated.
