About
Acer palmatum 'Beni hoshi' is a dwarf upright selection introduced by Del Loucks in 1996, with foliage that emerges bright red and fades to deep maroon by early summer, then shifts to peachy orange tones before turning yellow to orange in fall. Leaves are initially rounded with an amoenum form and become increasingly twisted as they mature, creating distinctive textural interest. The cultivar reaches approximately 5 feet tall by 4 feet wide at maturity, making it well-suited for containers, rock gardens, and small garden spaces. Afternoon shade protection enhances the characteristic leaf twist and color saturation.
