Acer palmatum 'Aka shidare' Weeping Deep Red Japanese Maple

'Aka shidare' is a dwarf, weeping Japanese maple with deeply dissected foliage that maintains deep red coloration throughout the growing season, even in full sun. It reaches approximately 4-5 feet in height and width over ten years, developing a distinctly pendulous habit that is more pronounced than the similar-sounding cultivar 'Tamukeyama'. Fall color transitions to bright crimson red. The name reflects its characteristics: "aka" refers to the deep red leaf color, while "shidare" describes its weeping form.
