About
'Hot Tamale' is a heat-tolerant selection of Acer oliverianum that emerges bright pink-red to deep burgundy in spring, maturing to olive-green by late spring with summer flushes of bright red new growth contrasting the established foliage. The tree transitions through yellow and orange-red to crimson in autumn. Reaching 10-12 feet tall in 15 years, 'Hot Tamale' develops as a small to medium-sized tree and tolerates full sun in zones 8-9, making it notably more heat-adapted than typical Acer palmatum cultivars.
