About

Acer olivaceum is a rare Chinese maple species with deeply lobed palmate leaves that emerge bright chartreuse in spring, maturing to olive green through summer. Autumn foliage is particularly striking, displaying warm malted tones of yellow, apricot, orange, and red. Growing 12-15 feet tall when grafted onto Acer palmatum understock, this species is closely related to Japanese maples and shares their elegant form and hardy constitution. Native to provinces in eastern China (Zhejiang, southern Anhui, and eastern Jiangxi), it is seldom seen in cultivation.
