Acer macrophyllum Tubbs Fire

Acer macrophyllum 'Tubbs Fire' is a variegated selection of big leaf maple featuring bold yellow and white variegation on its large, native-sized leaves, with young bark often displaying pink and white striations. This fairly fast-growing cultivar reaches approximately 25 feet in height within 10 years, performing similarly to the species but potentially slightly slower due to the variegation. While hardy and tolerant of sun and heat, the yellow leaf portions may experience sunburn in intense heat conditions, making partial shade preferable in warmer climates compared to the unvariegated native form.
