Acer macrophyllum Rubrum

Acer macrophyllum Rubrum is a rare cultivar of the Oregon maple selected for its distinctive spring foliage, which emerges in deep red before transitioning through reddish-brown to the species' typical deep green over several weeks. This large deciduous tree develops a broad, spreading habit and matures to approximately 30 feet tall. It combines the hardiness and heat tolerance of its Pacific Northwest native parent with notably vibrant early-season color.
