Acer fabri - Emerald Jade Maple - Rare Evergreen Chinese Maple

Acer fabri, known as Emerald Jade Maple, is a rare Chinese evergreen species with unlobed, dark glossy green leaves and red-tinted new growth shoots. Bright red samaras contrast sharply against the foliage. Though it tolerates some sun, it excels in deep shade and is often grown indoors in its native range. Typically reaching 12-14 feet tall, this shade-loving species may become semi-deciduous in colder climates, displaying red fall color before leaf drop; it benefits from winter protection where late spring frosts occur.
