Acer Diabolicum Japanese Devil Maple

Acer diabolicum, commonly known as horned maple, is a rare Japanese species distinguished by its unusual winged seeds with prominent horn-like projections. The tree develops a broad, rounded form, typically reaching 10-15 feet tall over ten years, with deeply lobed foliage that transitions from green to vibrant yellow and orange tones in autumn. Small red flowers emerge in early spring before the leaves fully expand, providing ornamental interest in the cooler months.
