About
This hybrid of Acer circinatum and A. palmatum emerged from a breeding program at the Morton Arboretum and combines the sun tolerance of vine maple with refined ornamental qualities. New growth emerges dark red before maturing to green, with foliage transitioning to bright fiery red in autumn. The plant is a vigorous grower reaching 12-15 feet tall in 20 years, and its circinatum parentage enables it to tolerate full sun better than most Japanese maples, particularly in southern climates.
