Acer circinatum Pacific Sprite

Pacific Sprite is a probable hybrid of Acer circinatum and Acer palmatum, combining the native vine maple's multi-stemmed, densely compact growth with Japanese maple refinement. Its dark green leaves are distinctly crinkled and twisted, creating a textured appearance reminiscent of Shishi Gashira, and turn shades of yellow, orange, and red in fall. The tree reaches approximately 6-8 feet tall and wide in ten years, with an upright, tight form ideal for garden composition. According to the growers at Mr Maple, this cultivar thrives in morning sun and afternoon shade in warmer regions, though it can tolerate full sun in the Pacific Northwest; it benefits from good drainage and the shallow, non-invasive root system typical of Acer palmatum selections.
