About
Bort's Broom is a dwarf cultivar of Acer circinatum that forms a dense, broadly branching shrub reaching approximately 4 feet tall. Its green foliage bronzes to cherry red in brighter light, and the cultivar tolerates full sun better than most vine maples, though morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal. This broom sport arose as a natural mutation on wild A. circinatum and grows vigorously when young with predominantly basal branching. It is very similar to or possibly synonymous with Baby Buttons.
